And Now For Something Completey Different
What follows is is my digital journal of my wood turning journey - with notes to myself for future reference. The Table Of Content links are pretty much in chronogical order - putting down where I started, where I've gone and maybe some idea of how and why. And I put this stuff on the web so as to not lose them - and be able to get to stuff quicker and easier than shuffling through folders and pieces of paper. And by putting this stuff on "digital paper", I often become aware of things I've done unconsciously and gain some understanding - that I may be able to use later.
It started innocently enough. I'd finally finished Das Bench, needed some round bench dogs and some store bought dowels just didn't go with Das Bench. Since I had a wood threading set I figured I should do some wooden screws as well. I had a little UniMat metal lathe so is turned some dogs in rosewood and padouk. Relatively speaking, this turning thing was almost instant gratification - the crack cocaine of woodworking - and drains bank accounts just as fast. Start between centers then get a chuck - more sets of jaws, more turning tools, ...
