You're Gonna Need Some Tools
You probably have the tools with which to set up the sliding table.
TIP: If you've got a bike shop in your town seriously consider getting a pair of 17 mm bike wrenches. Because they're so flat they get into places where a crescent or open end regular wrench are really a PITA.
Here's the basics for the first phase of the sliding table set up - getting it coplanar with the saw table and slightly above it.
- a light to back light the straight edge in order to easily see the gap(s) below the straight edge
..(a flashlite will do)
- a crescent wrench or a open end wrench for the eccentric on the lower rail adjustment bearing
- a pair of 17 mm bike wrenches for the adjustment bolts and their lock nuts
- 11/16th socket and driver for the rail bracket bolts
- 5/16th and 1/4 inch allen wrenches for the allen head bolts on the jig
- 6 mm allen wrench for the allen head bolt on the eccentric bearing
- a two foot machinist straight edge, a 3 footer is even better
- a set of feeler gauges to check the gap under the straight edge
With the jigs installed and snugged down, loosen the eccentric bearings under the sliding table and set them to their "Neutral Positions" - the middle case in the figure below - and tighten the allen head bolt. This neutral postion will give you some fine adjustment ability later in the set up process
